An eco-friendly product made from natural ingredients, designed for aromatization and disinfection of beehives and beekeeping equipment.
Used for:
- Uniting bee colonies to calm the bees, which facilitates the beekeeper’s work and reduces the time needed;
- Facilitating the unification of a swarm/nucleus with a colony (bees unite more peacefully, reducing losses);
- Calming colonies during inspections during the honey flow (as a smoke alternative);
- Introducing queen bees by harmonizing the hive’s scent.
Composition
Distilled water
Herbal extract: mint, thyme, and other auxiliary substances
Action:
- Aromatizes and equalizes odors within the hive;
- Disinfects hives and beekeeping tools;
- Calms the bees;
- Repels ants;
- Does not accumulate in honey or wax.
Method of Application
15–30 minutes before uniting colonies (or swarms), moisten a piece of cloth (10×10 cm, approx. 10 ml solution) with Apiarom and place it on the bottom of the hive. Then spray the colony with Apiarom. As the bees enter the hive, they unite. After 24 hours, remove the cloth from the hive. This ensures disinfection, aromatization, and odor equalization inside the hive.
A hanging swarm should be treated with Apiarom (diluted in water, approx. 10 ml per treatment) before shaking it down and again before combining with the colony.
Before inspecting the colony, apply Apiarom to your hands to disinfect and prevent stings.
The product replaces smoke. During inspections, Apiarom can be sprayed directly onto the tops of the frames – the bees will calm down and move downward, allowing a calm inspection or honey frame removal.
Queen introduction using Apiarom:
- Locate the old queen, catch her and place her in a cage (if she will be reused) or remove her permanently.
- Moisten a 10×10 cm piece of cloth with Apiarom so it’s slightly damp and place it at the bottom of the hive with the queenless colony.
- After 20–30 minutes, introduce the new queen in a cage between the frames.
- Open access to the candy compartment so that the bees can release the queen (depending on cage design).
- Spray the queen cage lightly with Apiarom 10–15 minutes before placing it into the hive.
Contraindications
No withdrawal period. All ingredients of Apiarom are completely safe for humans and bees and do not affect the quality of bee products. The components do not require the establishment of Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) in animal-origin products, including honey, according to EU Council Directive 2377/90.
Residues of these ingredients pose no toxicological risk in honey or other bee products. Therefore, Apiarom may also be used freely in organic beekeeping in accordance with EEC Regulation 2092/91.
